The Revenue Department, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh on September 11, 2026, issued the amendments to the Andhra Pradesh Excise Act, 1968.
The Government has specified revised compounding provisions for offences committed by shop licensees, in continuation of G.O.Ms. No. 12 dated January 08, 2018 and G.O.Ms. No. 278 dated December 02, 2024. For a first-time violation involving MRP violation, non-duty-paid liquor, brand mixing/adulteration/dilution of liquor, or non-maintenance of e-Inventory, the offence may be compounded on payment of ₹10 lakh. A second violation may result in cancellation of the shop licence after providing a reasonable opportunity of hearing with 7 days’ notice.
For deliberate disruption or tampering with the CCTV system, the compounding amount is ₹50,000 for the first violation and ₹1 lakh for the second violation, while a third violation may lead to cancellation of the licence after a reasonable opportunity of hearing and 7 days’ notice. The earlier orders under G.O.Ms. No. 12 and G.O.Ms. No. 278 will continue to apply to other offences covered under Section 47(1), except those specifically covered above. Bar licensee offences will continue to be dealt with under the proviso to Section 47(1) of the Act.
